Mom (Patricia Stankiewicz Joeckel) celebrated her 60th birthday on December 30, 1998.  Us kids thought that we would
give her a surprise birthday party, and boy, was it ever!  Pat and I and the kids came into town (Currituck, NC) unannounced
on Saturday, December 26th.  George, her husband, was in on this (as was everyone except her!).  We pulled into their
driveway and placed a call from our cell phone, asking her if she would like some company.  Boy, was she shocked!  Allan and Celeste and their crew were already in town for Christmas.  Doug flew in from Florida in Saturday evening and went to
Dianne's, he was to keep his presence hidden until the big event on Sunday.  This is when things got interesting (seems like
every time that Doug is involved, things get that way!)!  Saturday night, we stop by Dianne's on the way to a friend's house
where we were staying.  Doug was there at this point, he thought we were Mom.  Took a dive over the back of the couch in a
flying leap to hide, banged his shin.  Sunday morning, and we were still at the friend's house where we had spent the night.
Mom was getting antsy and wondering why we hadn't come over yet, as we had told her that we were in town to visit with her.
Mom decides to go to Dianne's just to see what was up.  Doug had just poured a new cup of coffee, hadn't had his shower yet, when Mom calls Dianne to say that she is on the way over.  Doug goes running out the back door, meets us at the friend's, has his coffee and shower there!  Well, we finally get the party setup.  We tell Mom that we are all going out to lunch before Allan and family go home.  We detour on the "way to lunch" to the clubhouse, where the party is being held.  Mom now has this
figured out, but she is in for one more surprise.  She walks into the clubhouse, and out pops Doug!  The party was great, all had a good time!  Let the pictures tell the rest of the story.
